A conversion and extension of a Grade II listed Harpenden pub to a modern gastro-pub for chef Jean Christophe Novelli.

In the autumn of 2005 new owners wished to expand this property, sitting in the tranquil setting of Hatching Green, to uplift the restaurant to three times its size, without spoiling the character of the original building.

The bar area was totally over hauled, to create a bright open space, with specially commissioned oak roof trusses and flooring, modern fixtures and fittings, and contemporary toilet facilities. The first floor was converted into two large private function rooms.

Complete external refurbishment, with careful consultation and liaison with the local authority throughout, provided a large paved terrace.
